In memoriam: Prof. Dr. Werner Gumpel

The Faculty of Economics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München extends its sincere condolences to the Gumpel family on the passing of Prof. Dr. Werner Gumpel.
Prof. Dr. Werner Gumpel passed away on January 13, 2026. He taught at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München from 1971 to 1996. As Chair of the Economics and Society of Southern Europe, he played a formative role in shaping our faculty over many years.
